The Brown family has been in the sign manufacturing business for over 60 years. In 1947, H.A. Brown, Jr. and W.L. Gantt purchased Hite Signs, a company started in West Columbia by D.I. Hite in 1923. Brown and Gantt merged with Colonial Metal Letters, Inc. to form Colonial-Hite Company. Later renamed Colite, the company thrived as one of the best in the business.
Marty and Peter Brown grew up in the sign business working for their father at Colite and became the new owners of Colite in 1992. They expanded the company’s focus by establishing contacts in dozens of countries worldwide. As of today, Colite has exported signs to over 125 countries. Colite’s services include engineering, design, project management, surveying, installing, manufacturing, and maintenance.
Market Segmentation
Colite specializes in brand identity sign programs, ensuring the brand integrity of its clients through quality and consistent sign implementations. Its market is segmented by both geography (global, national, or regional programs) and by organization of type (corporate, retail, hospitality, or financial). Our clients usually fall into two categories: 1) They have re-branded or undergone mergers or acquisitions and need new signage or 2) they are expanding their locations. In both scenarios, Colite centralizes each sign program by providing signage for all the locations worldwide, simplifying the process for its clients.
Sign Types
Colite has an impressive client list of leading corporations and retailers with whom it partners and builds long lasting relationships. Colite manufactures primary and secondary identification signage for these companies, specializing in building signage, monuments, pylons, lettersets, and provides its own patented Signature LEDs letters.
